Gan Li is running his data center and REIM like a business, He hires many junior faculties to work for his data business and treat them as cheap labors. I know many of them have to do a lot of s**tty staff for him and without any time to do their own research. Gan also operates a Master program at TAMU that accepted hundreds of Chinese students and makes a lot of money through an agency controlled by himself and his Chinese coworkers at TAMU.
