I am considering if I should accept a offer from a HK school. While HK is emotionally appealing, I have realized some problems.
0. Crazy housing price.
1. Cannot work part time in mainland.
2. The kids of many professors do not work in Hong Kong. This is a bad signal.
3. Very bad safety net and cut throat capitalism. For example, if you have an accident, nobody will help you.
4. Happiness level is low on average according the Gallup, though higher than mainland.
5. International schools can be expensive and hard to get into.
